South West Pride as Harry Hall Qualifies for The Open at Burnham & Berrow

The day proved a showcase for both the venue and the region, with Harry Hall, PGA Tour professional and proud graduate of West Cornwall Golf Club, securing his place at Royal Portrush with composed rounds of 68 and 67 to finish eight-under-par. Hall’s qualification — on home soil and through a South West venue — marked a proud moment for the region’s growing influence on the global stage.

He was joined by Justin Walters (-9), Jacob Skov Olesen (-8), Frazer Jones (-7, amateur) and OJ Farrell (-6) as the five players to advance from Burnham & Berrow. The field also featured an impressive list of names, including Chris Wood, the 2016 Ryder Cup star, alongside Anirban Lahiri, Oliver Wilson, and Danny Walker, underlining the event’s strength and prestige.

Competitors this year followed in the footsteps of Justin Rose, who famously qualified for The Open through Burnham & Berrow in 2024 before going on to finish runner-up at Royal Troon. Rose has since been named an Honorary Member of the club — a recognition that further cements its stature as one of Britain’s most important championship links.

For Southwest Premier Links (SWPL), the official DMC partner for inbound tour operators, the Championship once again demonstrated the South West’s international potential. As a leading supplier of net-rate access, ground handling and itinerary support for global golf travel brands, SWPL works directly with Burnham & Berrow to deliver bespoke stay-and-play experiences for discerning golfing clients.

“Seeing Harry Hall qualify through Burnham & Berrow connects our region’s grassroots with the world stage”
